Golf Course/
Lahinch - Castle

Along the rugged coastline of northwest County Clare, the village of Lahinch – and its famous golf club – is perched right on the seaside. This tiny hamlet is a tourism heavyweight, attracting visitors from all over the globe.

Lahinch Golf Club, established in 1892, has two courses: the Old Course and the Castle Course. The Castle Course gets its name from Dough Castle. All that remains of the Dough battlement house is one wall, which can still be seen from the seventh hole of the Castle Course.

Unveiled in 1975, towering sand dunes that cover the landscape are incorporated seamlessly with the rolling greens and undulating fairways and like any classic links course, there are a number of blind shots to challenge golfers.

Many golfers consider the Castle Course an intense warmup for what may lie ahead should they decide to venture to the Old Course across the road. It holds few surprises, yet still challenges even the best in the game.

The Castle is a thrill from start to finish, and even though the 5,600 yard course is not the longest links you'll play, this par 70 wonder will certainly push you to your limit.
